UK Monsters Trailer
It's being dubbed as this year's District 9 - we'll see if Gareth Edwards' low-budget film lives up to such promise.
One of the surprise hits at this year's Cannes Film Festival was Monsters.
Gareth Edwards supposedly made his sci-fi film for a fraction of a million dollars, and this new UK trailer shows an amazingly polished product. It's understandably being touted as this year's District 9, and while the teaser doesn't give too much away, here's the official synopsis:
Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America.
Soon after, new life forms began to appear there and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain "the creatures".
Our story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
Relative unknowns Whitney Able (All The Boys Love Mandy Lane) and Scoot McNairy (In Search Of A Midnight Kiss) lend the film a believable air, as will Edwards' pedigree as a visual effects artist on television documentaries such as In the Shadow of the Moon and Hiroshima.
We get to see Monsters on 12th November.
