The US remake of La Casu Muda, simply titled The Silent House, now has a trailer - and it looks terrifying. Even having seen the original, and so knowing what to expect we felt uneasy watching this, so it seems sure to be a decent horror event.

The Uruguayan original concerned a girl and her father staying at a remote house in order to renovate it. Things start to go bump in the night and a nerve-racking ride follows. It was claimed to be shot in one continuous take, and while many doubt whether this is the case, the effect was wonderful.

It should be made clear that this is NOT "found footage" - the camera is very much complicit here, making this a truly frightening experience. The original did suffer from a clumsily handled third act, which did go some way towards ruining the great work done before, but we hope that Open Water directors Chris Kentis and Laura Lau find a way to improve on this aspect. Starring Elizabeth Olsen in the lead, all the ingredients are here for this to be a chilling slice of horror.
