The Hunger Games

MTV viewers last night were treated to the first footage to be released from the upcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games (If you don't count the one second which was ludicrously released last week...).
In keeping with the drip-drip-drip style of marketing which seems to have been adopted, we don't actually see very much, only a scene of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence, who also introduces the footage) creeping through the woods, evading fireballs with a determined voiceover from (it seems) Gale urging her on.
The book is set in a dystopian future where twenty four teenage "tributes" are dispatched into a natural arena. They are forced to fight to the death for the amusement and continued domination of the population by a totalitarian government. The trilogy is widely popular, and Lionsgate seem sure that this will become the new Twilight.
The Hunger Games will be released on March 23rd, 2012
