Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D

Classic story taken on by genre legend, with Rutger Hauer in the cast - what could possibly go wrong?

Horror maestro Dario Argento's 3D take on the Dracula story has a full trailer ahead of Cannes, and we have to say we're pretty worried.

With the director of Suspiria, Deep Red and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (Amongst other classics) taking the helm of one of the great genre stories, casting icon Rutger Hauer as Van Helsing, we thought nothing could go wrong with this one, but having seen the trailer... well, just see for yourselves.

OK, so it's just a trailer, and you never know, this might look amazing in 3D, but with some hammy acting, sub reality TV technical work and unintentionally hilarious effects, we don't have high hopes for this one. As well as Hauer, the film stars Thomas Kretschmann, Marta Gastini, Asia Argento, Miguel Angel Silvestre and Miriam Giovanelli. We really don't like to be too down on films before we've seen them, but this does look to be on shaky ground, a real shame when you consider the personnel involved.
