Even the trailer knows a new Danny Boyle film is a major event, reminding us at the beginning all the incredible films the British director has given us.

Now the Oscar-winner follows up last year's Slumdog Millionaire with the incredible true story of Aron Ralston - the climber who went to extraordinary measures to free himself from under a boulder.

This first promo shows Aron as a handsome, flirty and energetic young man in the form of James Franco, and focuses mainly on his encounter with a couple of gushing hikers in the Utah canyons, which include Kate Mara.

It then ends with the devastating scenario Ralston is to find himself in for the 127 hours of the title. I was wondering how Boyle was going to film this story, and it seems he's kept it as bright, colourful and frenetic as Slumdog, which does disappoint me to be honest. I was also hoping the film would be brave enough just to focus on Franco himself and his internal struggle, Ryan Reynolds in Buried-stylee. We'll see on 5th November what Boyle has done, and some of us before then, as the film closes the BFI London Film Festival on 28th October.
