Bored of the glut of comic book adaptations? You're not alone. Although this year's Red has the most delicious twist - it features Dame Helen Mirren as an action hero.
She and Bruce Willis play retired CIA agents who are targeted by the Agency for their top scecret knowledge. They, along with Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich, must stay one step ahead of their former employees to uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history. Mary-Louise Parker, Karl Urban, Brian Cox and Richard Dreyfuss co-star.
Not the freshest of storylines, but the humour seems to be based on seeing these dignified actors in the most unlikely of scenarios. Director Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler's Wife, Flightplan) adapts the DC Comic by Warren Ellis. Red is released this October in th US.
