Wreck-It Ralph: Game Character Cameos Revealed.
Opening scene revealed at CinemaCon shows some early favourites.
If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to catch our interest, it’s a movie based on classic videogames – here’s a case in point – and happily enough, Disney have one such project currently in development, the upcoming Wreck-It Ralph.
Following Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly), a villain from an 8-bit Donkey Kong-style game, Fix It Felix Jr, the film is set in the world of arcade games, and seems to be taking a similar tone to Toy Story. Ralph tires of being the villain, and crosses into other games to try and become a hero.
Disney revealed an almost-finished opening to the film at CinemaCon, which reportedly includes cameos from a number of classic game villains. Obviously if you want to avoid very minor spoilers look away now, but the scene is reported to have included Dr. Robotnik (Sonic the Hedgehog), Bowser (Super Mario Bros.), Kano (Mortal Kombat), a ghost (Pac-Man), Zangief (Street Fighter) and Coily the Snake (Q*Bert).
This is pretty exciting news, if it’s a sign of how the film intends to go on – including just these few characters already has our nostalgia buds going, and we can’t wait to see more of the film.
Thanks to Slash Film for the story.
