The Possession Trailer Online
Raimi-produced chills aplenty in first look at new horror flick.
Great possession movies have been a little thin on the ground of late, with The Last Exorcism back in 2010 perhaps the last truly chilling look at what is potentially terrifying subject matter.
Sam Raimi-produced The Possession looks to address this, and looks like a Drag me to Hell style frightener, with young Natasha Canis playing host to something distinctly unpleasant after opening a mysterious wooden box found at a garage sale. There are some very unsettling images in this trailer – that X-Ray in particular will be bothering us all day, and it appears that grotesque image on the poster for the film isn’t just a visual metaphor.
Jeffery Dean Morgan plays the troubled young girl’s worried father, and the film is directed by Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal. The film opens in the UK on the 31st August, and we can’t wait to see what further scares Raimi and Bornedal have come up with.
The Possession is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
