The Crow Remake Back On Track?
Update: F Javier Gutierrez to direct.
UPDATE: Showblitz have reported that Before the Fall director F Javier Gutierrez will be taking over directing duties on the remake, attempting to shoot a script by relative newcomer Jesse Wigutow.
The long-running court dispute between The Weinstein Company and Relativity Media has been settled out of court, reports Deadline
The legal details will presumably take some time to transpire, although to be honest we aren't terribly interested in that. What we do care about, however, are the implications for the long planned remake of the 1997 film of James O'Barr's tale.
Having gone through a number of personnel changes and rumours, including Mark Wahlberg and Bradley Cooper being linked with the lead, the project lost a director in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo last year as the legal case threatened to bury it. With this business now concluded, the studio will press on with the least-anticipated remake of recent times.
The original film has a real cult following, with steadfast opposition to this reboot coming from fans. There really does seem little point in remaking a movie that came out just 15 years ago, but there you go. More news on the film as we get it.
