The Amazing Spider-Man Is The First Of New Trilogy

With The Amazing Spider-Man performing very well indeed at the box office, having just broken the record for highest-ever Tuesday opening with a muscular $35m, the films Facebook page has announced that this is indeed set to be the first film in a fresh trilogy.

"The Amazing Spider-Man is the first instalment in a movie trilogy that will explore how our fave hero's journey was shaped by the disappearance of his parents," said the post, and although we have the odd reservation about the film (click here for our review), we overall enjoyed it, and have to say we’re more than happy to see more from Andrew Garfield’s Spidey.

Although there is naturally no news on the personnel involved with the sequel just yet, director Marc Webb has confirmed that he is toying with ideas to continue the story. With The Amazing Spider-Man raking in plenty of cash so far though, we’d be very surprised if the (500) Days of Summer director wasn’t back at the helm for future instalments.
