Synopsis For Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium Unveiled
District 9 director's new sci-fi project is very, very interesting.
Ever since his 2009 debut hit District 9, Neill Blomkamp has been a promising young director we’ve been watching very closely. His next project, Elysium, has been kept pretty quiet, with the news that Matt Damon and Jodie Foster are starring pretty much all we’ve known until now.
We now have a detailed synopsis, distributed on tickets to a special preview event in the US, painting a very rich picture for the plot of the South African helmer’s latest.
In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard the government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Sounds pretty cool, and we can’t wait to see more of Elysium when it is released in March next year. More news as we get it.
