Super 8 Gets Its First Cast Members
Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning sign up for J.J. Abrams' film.
J.J. Abrams' Super 8 gets closer to reality, with the news that the alien pic has its first cast members.
The director of Star Trek (and creator of Lost), is creating the movie as a homage to Steven Spielberg's Seventies films, with the great man on board as producer. The details are being kept top secret, but eyes and ears are everywhere, and NY Mag's Vulture has discovered some news.
Friday Night Lights and King Kong actor Kyle Chandler is on board, as is Elle Fanning, the 12-year-old sister of Dakota who's making a name for herself this year after starring in Sofia Coppola's acclaimed Somewhere. Elle has also popped up in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Revolutionary Road.
Shooting starts soon on the film, which is thought to be about a group of youngsters who accidentally film something on a crashed military train. Super 8 is gearing up for a May 2011 release.
