Sequel Planned For The Last Exorcism

Given that 2010 FrightFest closer The Last Exorcism took a weighty $62.5 million worldwide from a relative pocket money-sized budget of $1.6 million, it's not surprising that a sequel is in the pipeline.

The original took the form of a found-footage film, captured by a documentary crew as they follow a priest who performs exorcisms, who is determined to expose that part of his job as a fraud. They head to an isolated farmhouse in a rural community, only to find things a little more real than anticipated.

The script is being handled by upcoming screenwriter Damien Chazelle, who has an impressive portfolio in the industry despite his tender age of 25. He has previously sold a script to the producers of Buried, had one script produced into a feature (Guy And Madeline On A Park Bench) and has a thriller currently being produced by Route One (The Claim).

This is obviously very early days, but we will bring more news as it breaks. Credit to Heat for breaking the story
