Schwarzenegger Set For King Conan

Universal have announced another project for Arnold Schwarzenegger today, with King Conan surfacing as a project the studio are keen to get in cinemas by the summer of 2014.

Chris Morgan, the writer of the last four Fast and Furious movies, is spearheading the project, although it is not yet clear whether it will be in a writing or just producing capacity. Deadline report that the Austrian Oak is all set to step into the shoes of the barbarian warrior once again, with Arnie confirming his involvement with the following statement;

“I always loved the Conan character and I’m honored to be asked to step into the role once again. I can’t wait to work with Universal and the great team of Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan to develop the next step of this truly epic story.”

It seems the intention is to paper over the last couple of big screen Conan movies, and to ignore the 2011 remake in order to focus on the story of an older Conan looking for one last battle. This sounds like it would suit Schwarzenegger perfectly, and we’re keen to see what Universal do with this one.
