Lost’s Lindelof Rewriting Alien Prequel?

Deadline are reporting that Lost creator Damon Lindelof is to rewrite the forthcoming Alien prequel.

The genius screenwriter met with the equally genius director Ridley Scott, and has apparently closed a deal to rework Jon Spaiht's original script. Not that Scott had any problem with the story - it was Spaiht's ideas that convinced him to return to the director's chair to take us back before Ripley and her team landed on planet LV-426. The prequel to his 1979 sci-fi classic will focus on the "space jockey" seen on the desolate and alien-infected land.

This will be Lindelof's first solo writing job, having worked with Carlton Cuse on six seasons of Lost, and writing the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci - the same guys he's doing the Star Trek sequel with for his Lost buddy JJ Abrams.

Another exciting final note - the meeting of creative minds was so successful, that Scott and Lindelof's other ideas may make it into a new film.
