Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence For X-Men: First Class
Bacon confirmed to play a villain and Lawrence a young Mystique in Matthew Vaughn's prequel.
Great news for X-Men: First Class - the addition of Kevin Bacon as a bad guy.
He's officially joined the already superb cast in Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn's take on the origins story, which includes James McAvoy as a young Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Magneto.
Also, the part of the young Mystique has gone to Jennifer Lawrence, a 19-year-old who's already scooped several awards, and was the star in Sundance hit Winter's Bone. She'll be the younger version of the blue shapeshifter played by Rebecca Romijn in the trilogy. Bravo to Vaughn for not going down the Michael Bay route, and picking a genuinely talented young actress for a physical role. It's looking to be a notch above most superhero films already.

Filming of Vaughn and Jane Goldman's script begins in London this summer.
