Karl Urban Offered Judge Dredd?
The Star Trek and Lord of the Rings actor is wanted for a new version of the comic character.
While I'm at breaking point regarding news of yet another bloody comic adaptation, it's always thrilling when an underrated actor gets a big break.
This time it could be New Zealand's Karl Urban, who first came to Hollywood's attention as Eomer in The Lord of the Rings. After notable roles in The Bourne Supremacy and Star Trek, Urban is being touted for the part of Judge Dredd.
Bleeding Cool are reporting that the actor will be offered the part in Vantage Point director Pete Travis' new version. The less said about Sylvester Stallone's 1995 take of the 2000 AD character the better.
This time, there's an action-heavy script from Sunshine writer Alex Garland, which is apparently promising - The Playlist got hold of a script review which describes it as dark and gritty.
