Juan Of The Dead Gets US Release
Exciting Cuban zombie comedy set for stateside run.
The good folks over at Bloody Disgusting have reported the awesome news that Cuban comedy Juan of the Dead is set to receive a US release - we are inclined to believe that a UK release would follow in short order, should the film do decent business.
The film first appeared on our radar with the following amazing trailer, from the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011. It looks like a brutal, bloody and fun affair, with obvious comparisons to be made to British zombie flick Shaun of the Dead. This does seem to be far more subversive, with all kinds of social allegory being read into the film.
Following Juan, a 40 year old slacker who spots a lucrative business opportunity when hordes of the undead start to plague the island, turning his hand to zombie extermination. We'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure, with our fingers firmly crossed that Focus World's US campaign is a hit - hopefully paving the way for us folks across the pond to have a look at this intriguing film.
