Joss Whedon In Final Negotiations For The Avengers
The Buffy creator could be the man to tackle the Marvel Studio's superhero megamovie.
After months of rumours, it looks like Joss Whedon will be the man to bring The Avengers to life on the big screen.
No, he's not remaking the disastrous Ralph Fiennes/Uma Thurman version of the cult 60s show, but Marvel Studio's superhero extravaganza, featuring Iron Man, Captain America and Thor.
Yep, that means Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man will be teaming up with Chris Hemsworth's forthcoming Thor and the recently announced Captain America, Chris Evans. Nick Fury is also a presence, in the shoes of Samuel L. Jackson. The heroes will team up to fight a common enemy. Deadline Hollywood are reporting that Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Whedon is in final negotiations with Marvel, after writing several comics for them in the past. His only big screen outing to date has been Serenity, inbetween his huge television success with the genre-defining Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse.
We'll have a while to wait though, as our introductions to Thor and Captain America are still in production. Marvel are aiming for a May 2012 release.
