Joaquin Phoenix For Hoover Biopic?
Clint Eastwood wants the actor to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.
It could be just the comeback Joaquin Phoenix needs after messing around for the last couple of years, suffering for his art.
With his faux-documentary I'm Still Here opening to media interest but ticket-buyer's indifference, the Oscar nominee could be ready for one of the most important roles of his career.
For NY Mag's Vulture are reporting that Phoenix is Clint Eastwood's first choice to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Hoover, his planned biopic of the FBI founder.
DiCaprio is closing a deal to play the controversial J. Edgar Hoover, with Phoenix's role supposedly that of his close friend Clyde Tolson. FBI ssociate director Tolson was the beneficiary of Hoover's life insurance, and inherited his estate. Eastwood will be working on a script from Oscar-winning Milk writer Dustin Lance Black.
