Hobbit Casting Underway
Producer Peter Jackson has been London, New York and LA meeting actors.
Fears that The Hobbit dream may be crumbling may be alleviated by the news that producer and screenplay writer Peter Jackson has been scouting for actors.
The man who brought JRR Tolkien's epic Lord of the Rings to life has hit many snags developing the smaller precursor, The Hobbit. First production has been delayed because of studio MGM's financial struggles, and then the director Guillermo del Toro quit.
Jackson is expected to step once more into the director's chair, but before that confirmation comes news from Heat Vision that he has been been discreetly meeting actors in London, New York and LA. The only cast members confirmed so far are LotR's Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis, reprising their roles as Gandalf and Gollum, and the leading role of Bilbo Baggins has yet to be cast.
