George Clooney Joins 1952 Dream Team
Exciting project begins to take shape as it adds the star.
Variety have some interesting news of a Disney sci-fi project which is refreshingly not Star Wars, with George Clooney reportedly circling the starring role in Brad Bird's 1952.
The sci-fi is said to be in a similar mould to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, about a man making contact with alien beings. With a script written by Lost and Prometheus' Damon Lindelof and Jeff Jensen, Bird will direct the film, which Variety report the studio see as a large-scale tentpole movie. Details are being kept under wraps for now, with some sources saying that the project isn't even greenlit at this point, with no cast in place.
If it does all come together, this is an exciting ensemble for sure. Clooney is currently starring in and directing "The Monuments Men" with Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Hugh Bonneville, Bob Balaban, Cate Blanchett and Jean Dujardin lined up to appear. That film is about art experts on the trail of works stolen by the Nazis during World War Two and is written byClooney and Grant Heslov.
