George Clooney Back Behind The Camera
The actor returns to politics and media for Farragut North.
George Clooney is finally going into production of a project he's had his eye on for three years.
The actor will direct an adaptation of the play Farragut North, a political drama about a dirty tricks campaign. He's already assembling a fine cast, including someone who knows the material inside out. Star Trek's Chris Pine played the spin doctor in a stage production last year, and is set to reprise his role.
Philip Seymour Hoffman will play his boss, Clooney will pop up as the presidential candidate himself, with Paul Giamatti the rival campaign manager. Marisa Tomei is reportedly on board as a probing journalist, and Evan Rachel Wood could be Pine's "love interest" (I really wish Hollywood would stop with that insulting phrase).
Vulture are reporting all these names, with the news that Clooney is set to roll next February. Hopefully it will be as awesome as his previous directorial effort Good Night and Good Luck. Following 2008's Leatherheads, Clooney has lined up another script to direct, Suburbicon - a dark comedy from his chums Joel and Ethan Coen.
