Gary Oldman Joins Apes Sequel
Tinker Tailor and Dark Knight star gets on board Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Matt Reeves’ upcoming sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has a superb addition to the cast today, with Coming Soon reporting that Gary Oldman has joined the project.
The film is set 15 years after the events of Rise, with humanity on the ropes after the super intelligent apes have begun to take over. A community of scientists in San Francisco seek to overthrow the new Ape order, while Caesar (Andy Serkis) seeks to keep control of his new-found dominion. Oldman is set to play Dreyfus, the leader of a human community, but that’s all we know about his character right now.
Set for release on May 23rd next year, shooting is set to start in New Orleans this month, with Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee already on board. This is shaping up to be a real one to watch.
