Frightfest 2012 Announces Opening And Closing Films
The Seasoning House and Tower Block lead the way, plus an exciting premiere.
Frightfest is the highlight of the film calendar for many horror fans, and with the big weekend approaching (23rd-27th august), the organisers have today announced the opening and closing films for the scarefest.
Opening the festival will be the premiere of Paul Hyett’s psychological horror, and directorial debut, The Seasoning House. Set in a Balkan brothel , the film explores the theme of sexual exploitation and stars Rosie Day, Sean Pertwee and Kevin Howarth.
The closing night slot, so ably filled last year by A Lonely Place To Die, will be taken up by the world premiere of the suspenseful Tower Block. Set in a London block of flats, the residents must do everything they can to survive as they are targeted by a mystery sniper. This thriller stars Sheridan Smith, Russell Tovey and Jack O’Connell, and is directed by James Nunn and Ronnie Thompson.
The directors and cast of both these British flicks will be in attendance, and these will be sure to be top attractions over the weekend.
Frightfest always throws up some real gems, and gave us Kill List and the previously mentioned A Lonely Place to Die last year. We are also very excited to note that the event will host the UK premiere of [Rec] 3: Genesis, and will feature an appearance from director Paco Plaza and leading lady Letitia Dolera.
The full line up is set to be announced on June the 29th – the horror community waits with baited breath.
