First Look At True Grit
Oscar winner Jeff Bridges stars in the Coen Brothers' remake.
The first production still has been released for the Coen Brothers' remake of True Grit.
The project reunites Joel and Ethan with their Big Lebowski star Jeff Bridges, fresh from winning this year's Oscar for best actor in Crazy Heart.
This version is said to be more violent and darker than Henry Hathaway's John Wayne-starring 1969 version, based on Charles Portis' novel. Bridges plays Marshal Reuben 'Rooster' Cogburn, a weary and worn lawman who accompanies a 14-year-old girl on a journey of revenge. The central character of Mattie Ross is played by newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, pictured above.
Josh Brolin and Matt Damon co-star, with Paramount looking to release True Grit in the UK on 14th January 2011.
