Eli Roth In Talks For Harker.
Russell Crowe will star
With a number of Dracula-flavoured projects on the way, one film, titled Harker, has been building a collection of names to help it along, and has added a director to its credit list.
Focusing on the character on Jonathan Harker, but recasting him as a Scotland Yard detective on the trail of the murderous vampire, the intention is for this to launch a series, with Harker hunting down various adversaries, presumably of a supernatural nature.
Russell Crowe is attached in the famous villain's role, and the news from Deadline this morning is that Eli Roth is in talks to get behind the camera, presumably to bring a dash of gore to the re-imagining of Bram Stoker’s iconic character.
For our money, nobody has ever made a straight-up great adaptation of the original Stoker novel, so we’re a little fed up with re-imaginings and reboots. Demeter looks like taking on one of the most interesting aspects of the original story, but we wonder why the source novel is being so nervously skirted around. What do you guys think?
