Duncan Jones Talks Source Code
The Moon director also reveals why he turned down Judge Dredd.
Moon director Duncan Jones has given an exclusive interview to Man Made Movies, where he talks of his deliberate ploy not to reveal too much.
He remarked that the trailer for Moon revealed more than it should've, when asked about the fact that even though it's in post-production, there hasn't been a single still from his follow-up Source Code. "We showed a lot early, on Moon," he emailed the blog. "People knew more than they should have just by watching the trailer. I think for a small film like Moon, it was probably the right move, but this film is a little bigger, and I think we can afford to hold our cards a little closer to our chest."
Excellent news - playing it just like Christopher Nolan did with Inception. Even more tantalising is Jones' next statement: "Source Code is very different than Moon... its quite a bit different from a lot of films, to be honest, and Im hoping when we are ready to show people, the patience will pay off."
Source Code stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a soldier who, as part of an experimental government program to investigate a terrorist incident, finds himself in the body of an unknown commuter living and reliving a harrowing train bombing until he can find the person responsible. Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright co-star.
Jones confirmed his edit, with legendary Star Wars editor Paul Hirsch, is complete, and the film will be released early next year.
For loads more on Jones' thoughts on Moon one year on, and why he turned down Judge Dredd ("I had such a strong idea of what I wanted to do with a Dredd movie, I could not bring myself to take it on and not do it my way"), head over to Man Made Movies.
