Dragon Tattoo’s Noomi Rapace For Sherlock Holmes 2?
The Swedish actress is making waves in Hollywood, meeting with major studios and directors.
Be still my beating heart - it seems Hollywood has finally woken up to the fact there is a devastatingly brilliant actress roaming around without a juicy role to get stuck into.
Sweden's Noomi Rapace created the greatest onscreen heroine since the days of Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor and Clarice Starling when she embodied Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. With the remaining adaptations of Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy out this year - The Girl Who Played With Fire hits cinemas next week - reports are coming in that Rapace has been meeting with studios for major parts.
Deadline are stating that not only is Rapace eligible for a Best Actress Oscar nomination (amazing), but she's been in LA meeting with studio heads and directors.
Warner Bros' Greg Silverman wants her for Sherlock Holmes 2, and Paramount's Marc Evans wants her for Mission Impossible 4, they claim. She's also had meetings with Brett Ratner and Ridley Scott (OMG Alien prequel), and "Brad Fischer for the Phoenix Pictures project The Last Voyage Of The Demeter, Jon Amiel on his latest (believed to be titled Masterwork), James McTeigue on The Raven, Tommy Wirkola on Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters, and McG on This Means War."
In a year where Victoria's Secret models have walked into huge roles, these next words give me hope for humanity: Deadline's insider says "They're originally meeting her expecting this hard-ass on a Harley wearing leather. But she's nothing like Lisbeth. They're shocked to find this unbelievably beautiful and sexy fresh-faced actress with a wonderful sense of humor. So now that's opening doors for her. They go into the meeting to ask, 'Do I have a villain? And they leave saying, 'Do I have a great female lead?'"
If you've not experienced Rapace in Dragon Tattoo, it's out on DVD now. Watch it before David Fincher does his pointless English-language remake, with the dull Rooney Mara as Lisbeth.
