Diablo Cody polishing Evil Dead Script
Bruce Campbell tweets the bad news...
It's an unexpected and confusing twist in the Evil Dead remake story, but as cult legend Bruce Campbell tweeted this morning, "Evil Dead' remake: Diablo Cody polishing script for first-time director", linking to the LA Times.
This is surely not going to be a popular addition to personnel with horror fans, with former flavour-of-the-month Juno writer Cody not exactly a horror mainstay, with the distinctly average Jennifer's Body the only genre experience on her CV. New director Fede Alvarez had reportedly produced the first draft, and it seems out of keeping with the indie sensibilities of the original film to take the script out of the hands of the young director. That said, it is only a polish, and so perhaps we are getting a little prematurely worried here.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that this won't be a polished, hollywood - type affair, but the addition of a fashionable writer fluent in kooky-speak has us keeping a cautious eye on this one.
