Chris Eccleston In Final Talks For Thor 2 Villain Role
Ninth Doctor could play the villain in Alan Taylor's sequel.
The newly titled Thor sequel Thor: The Dark World may have found its villain in the shape of Christopher Eccleston, who is reportedly in final talks.
Danish actor Mads Mikklesen had been in talks to take the role of Malekith The Accursed, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, but has been forced to pull out due to scheduling conflicts. That’s a big gap to plug, and Eccleston may be just the man for the job.
Kenneth Branagh’s original had great success in casting a British thesp in Tom Hiddlestone’s fan favourite Loki, and Alan Taylor’s follow-up looks to have a similar tone. Eccleston is most recognisable as the ninth incarnation of Doctor Who, but has significant big screen pedigree, counting 28 Days Later and Shallow Grave amongst his CV.
Thor 2 is set for release on the 8th November 2013, and will also star returning cast members Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.
