Billy Connolly Added To The Hobbit
Comedian will play Dain Ironfoot, Dwarven warrior.
Revealed over on the Heat Vision blog today is the news that popular comedian Billy Connolly has been cast in Peter Jackson's upcoming The Hobbit.
“We could not think of a more fitting actor to play Dain Ironfoot, the staunchest and toughest of Dwarves, than Billy Connelly, the Big Yin himself...With Billy stepping into this role, the cast of The Hobbit is now complete. We can't wait to see him on the Battlefield!" read Jackson's announcement, and we have to say this is potentially a very cool piece of casting indeed.
Dain is the cousin of Thorin Oakenshield, leader of the main band of dwarves in the story. If Connolly's well-established persona does not overpower the character we can see him as a good fit for Dain, one of the mightiest of all the Dwarves. The Hobbit is released this Christmas, and is rapidly overtaking Santa's visit as the thing we most look forward to.
