Ben Affleck Hires Writer For The Stand
Invasion writer to take over screenwriting duties for the epic adaptation.
The planned adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand has been geologically slow to get off the ground - with no news for months since Ben Affleck was handed directing duties.
The Town helmer Affleck has now found himself a screenwriter in the shape of David Kajganich, whose best known work is probably the slightly lame 2007 bodysnatchers flick The Invasion. The work that hass reportedly gotten him on Affleck's radar, however, are his unfilmed scripts for the planned remakes of both Pet Semetary and It, which as it happens are also King tales.
The Stand is one of our favourite novels, and was made into a TV mini series in 1994 by King buddy Mick Garris with mixed results. We are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that this will be a trilogy of feature films, rather than an attempt to cram the entire tale of a post-apocalyptic group caught up in a struggle between good and evil into a single movie.
Way back when Harry potter director/ writer duo David Yates and Steve Kloves were attached to the project, we put forward our casting ideas. Check out our suggestions here.
Kudos to Vulture for breaking the story.
