After hitting up the Avengers press conference in London today, we were pleased to be able to get a question in for stars Scarlett Johnasson and Cobie Smulders.

With Joss Whedon directing and writing the superhero epic, we were keen to hear the pair's thoughts on the geek icon's known ability to produce strong female characters, especially in such a traditionally male-dominated genre.

Forgive the slightly nervous delivery of the question, but it really is fascinating to hear more about how the man himself approaches his lead characters.
