London Film & Comic Con 2011 Preview
Karen Gillan, Christopher Lloyd, Tom Sizemore and Derek Jacobi just some of the stars for this week's event.
London Film & Comic Con 2011 is almost upon us, with the huge signing fair and exhibition gearing up to be one of the best in years.
From the team behind the legendary Collectormania conventions, Showmasters take over Earls Court 2 from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th July for talks, signing sessions, photo shoots and special events.
This year's show sees a first, with a preview night introduced. From 6pm on Friday 8th, limited ticket holders can meet selected guests early and browse the dealer stands without the hordes of attendees. Tickets for the weekend will also be on sale, along with photoshoots.
Let's take a look at the special guests, all of whom will be signing autographs and taking part in photo shoots:
FILM
He was a huge hit at the show three years ago, and now Back to the Future legend Christopher Lloyd returns, along with a very special photo opportunity. Doc Brown himself will be posing in costume (trains and horses shirt) against the DeLorean. Amazing, and all for £45. Not only that, his BTTF co-star Lea Thompson will be attending.
Elsewhere, there's Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down star Tom Sizemore, Highlander hero Christopher Lambert, Eighties star Corey Feldman, Tim Burton's former muse Lisa Marie, Kill Bill and Independence Day's Vicica A. Fox, Alien's Veronica Cartwright, Saws I-III star Shawnee Smith and esteemed stage and screen legend Sir Derek Jacobi. There's also a smattering of Harry Potter cast members, including young Tom Riddle Hero Fiennes-Tiffin.
Hellraiser fans are in for a real treat with Clive Barker and a cast reunion. The director and author will be joined by the cast of his cult horror franchise, including Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley, the film's heroine Ashley Laurence, Frank in monster form Oliver Smith, plus Cenobites Nicholas Vince and Simon Bamford. You can pose for an ultra creepy photo shoot with the whole gang.
TELEVISION
This year's LFCC has to be the ultimate for Doctor Who fans, with the Doctor's current assistant Karen Gillan meeting fans and taking part in a photo shoot. Apart from the show's Amy Pond, you'll also be able to meet River Song herself, Alex Kingston. Other Who guests include Camille Coduri, who played Jackie Tyler, and John Leeson, the voice of K9, who will be posing with the Real K9 from Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures for a special photo opportunity.
In honour of the late Elisabeth Sladen and Nick Courtney, both popular guests at previous shows, LFCC will be home to a Tribute Stand. You will be able to purchase never before seen prints and autographs from both Elizabeth and Nick, with all the money raised going to the two charities that cared for the two Doctor Who stars.
Other superb television stars include Robert Knepper, aka T-Bag from Prison Break, Star Trek's Brent Spiner, V, 4400 and Taken star Joel Gretsch and Chuck and Supernatural's Mark Sheppard.
All this plus displays of classic movie and TV cars, props and merchandise, plus the presence of Universal Films.
