Going The Distance World Premiere

Drew Barrymore and Justin Long launch Nanette Burstein's witty romantic comedy.

Going The Distance World Premiere

London was host to the World Premiere of Going The Distance last night, with stars Drew Barrymore and Justin Long greeting fans in Leicester Square.

The blue carpet was rolled out for Nanette Burstein's fresh and witty take on the tired romantic comedy genre, which sees Justin and Drew's one night stand turn into something more. Trouble is, they live on opposite sides of the US, and this being a film very much grounded in reality, this couple can't afford to make sacrifices to see each other. With support from the hilarious Christina Applegate, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day as the well-meaning family and friends, Justin and Drew are faced with crude and painfully funny trials and tribulations as they work to keep their blossoming relationship alive.

We spoke briefly to Justin, who lavished praise on his co-star Drew: "She's beautiful and so funny, like insanely funny. I got to see a side to her, working with her, that I hadn't seen, not having known her in a professional capacity. I got to see the way she treated people - it made her so much more beautiful. She treated everyone with so much gratitude and grace, it was lovely. I mean everyone - PAs, studio people, no matter where you are on the hierarchy." Having just completed Robert Redford's The Conspirator, he had similar words about the actor and director: "Again, treating people with grace and respect. He's such a gentlemen and a nice guy."

Annoyingly, Oscar-nominated documentary director Nanette was not brought to our press pen, and Drew was rushed through after being barraged with inane questions hinting at her relationship with Justin. However, we did get a nice chat with upcoming actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen, which we will be bringing you shortly, along with a report from Drew, Justin and Nanette's fantastic Apple Store talk this week.

Before then, take a look at the official footage from the premiere, and Michelle Grimes' wonderful candid snaps. Going The Distance is released on 10th September.
